NO CONFIRMATION ON INDIEPENDENCE FESTIVAL RETURN

MARIAN ROCHE

The Avondhu can confirm that Deer Farm, the site of the Indiependence Music and Arts Festival for 12 years, has been purchased by a local businessman.

The question, of course, is - is Indiependence returning? “No comment!”, we are told.

Shane Dunne, Mitchelstown man and managing director of Indiependence, said there was “nothing to report at the moment.”

Mitchelstown continues to await potential news on the festival which drew crowds of up to 15,000 people in its years on the Dublin Road. Earlier this month, Indiependence was behind the Autumn Air series of concerts in the town, which hosted 18 concerts across five days, most of which were sold out well in advance, some in minutes.

Mr Dunne is also involved with Curve Music Management, who produced the ‘Subterranean Sessions’, a series of concerts filmed in Mitchelstown Caves. The show was aired on RTÉ 1 in July this year, and the second series is currently being filmed in the same underground location.

Clearly, The Avondhu area has an insatible taste for music! Watch this space for future updates.
