Day centre to reopen in early October

The Cluain Dara Day Centre in Fermoy is scheduled to reopen on a phased basis in early October. Cork East TD Seán Sherlock received confirmation this week that the care centre will reopen on October 5.

“I have been receiving many calls and queries on this matter,” Deputy Sherlock told The Avondhu. “I have pressed the HSE for some time to reopen day centres and to commit to that date. I am glad that one has been made now for October 5.”

RESUMPTION OF SERVICES

Jackie Daly, head of Services for Older People in Cork Kerry Community Healthcare, in response to Deputy Sherlock, said: “Cork Kerry Community Healthcare recognises the considerable value of the service provided to clients and their families by day care centres, and consequently, resumption of day care services has been actively underway since June on a phased basis.

“This phasing has been implemented by gradually increasing numbers of days of service provision per week and numbers of people availing of the service per week up to full capacity, while constantly reviewing public health guidance, infection control guidelines and undertaking risk assessments.

“With regard to Cluain Dara Day Centre, Fermoy, this unit is currently scheduled to reopen on a phased basis on October 5th, 2021,” he stated.
