RED CARD

Isn’t it time the whistle was blown on those who take their dogs into public spaces and allow them to foul there? Allowing dogs on to areas such as playing pitches where those using the facilities and those involved in their upkeep are open to infection, is simply shameful.

Another appeal has been sent out by Fermoy FC after the problem at their facilities has escalated - this despite previous requests to local pet owners.

That one volunteer reported removing as many as 15 incidents of dog foul from two pitches in a single morning, is shocking in the extreme. While the club is not trying to stop people from walking their dogs in the area, they do ask that you keep your dog on a lead, keep them off the pitch, pick up after them and simply show a bit of respect! Surely not too much to ask?

Must we remind the offenders again that parasites and bacteria in dog waste can spread disease that could prove fatal to those who come in contact with it. Time to show them the red card!
