Culture Night well received in Fermoy

KATIE GLAVIN

Thousands of people hit the streets of towns across Cork and nationwide on Friday last, Sep

tember 17 to take in the events of Culture Night and all that was on offer.

In Fermoy, a host of local groups, clubs and organisations got in on the action, with Fermoy International Garden group, Fermoy Street Arts and Fermoy Community Youth Centre hosting and facilitating events.

It was a very memorable occasion for some groups, and for Fermoy Concert Band, it was their first public performance in almost two years as they took to Ashe Quay to entertain residents and visitors alike.

Fermoy Musical Society also took to Ashe Quay performing a range of musical numbers on the night.

Cork County Culture Night was coordinated from Fermoy this year and local woman Gráinne O’Connor, of Crayon Creative, supported Cork County Council and Cork Arts in hosting the eagerly anticipated night.

“Culture Night across Ireland was a massive success. We are a big county and we had a big plan, and we delivered. Well done to everyone involved in all the surrounding towns and villages that took part. Nearly 100 events in total, plus a very high calibre of online events too,” Gráinne said.
