WILLIAM MOLONEY RIP

The death occurred recently of William Moloney, Castlegrace, Clogheen, he was known affectionately as Billy Boy. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Bridie (nee O’Donnell). Billy Boy had a great interest in greyhound racing and reared and trained many a winner in the local tracks. He loved to play a game of cards in Clogheen and Duhill Halls.

Billy was a native of Ardfinnan and he never forgot his roots and visited Ardfinnan every morning and would call into his brothers Dick and Tom for a chat and catch up with all the local news. Billy had a great interest in politics, especially Fianna Fail and always at election time would do all he could to get the local candidate elected.

Billy is survived by his sons P.J, Kevin and Mark, daughter Mary, brothers Dick and Tom, sisters Peggie, Bridget and Eileen and all his extended family. His requiem Mass was celebrated in Duhill Church followed by internment in Ardfinnan Cemetery. May his soul rest in peace.

RICHARD FENNESSY RIP

The death occurred recently of Richard Fennessy, late of Mount Anglesby, Clogheen and Swansea, Wales. Richard was in his mid sixties and was son of the late Mick and Eleanor Fennessy.

Deeply regretted by his wife Kim, sons Daniel and Michael, brothers Michael, John, Pat, James and Freddie, sisters Anne, Eleanor and Elsie and all his extended family and friends. A remembrance Mass for Richard will take place in Clogheen Church on Saturday, 25th September at 6pm. May he rest in peace.

VEE ROVERS F.C.

The juniors game on Sunday was a home fixture against Clonmel Town in the league. It was backs to the wall for the Rovers’ defence right from the start and despite their best efforts, we found ourselves three goals down at the break.

The Rovers’ strike force lived off scraps and rarely tested the Town keeper, but they worked hard trying to influence the game.

The second half produced much more of the same and Clonmel Town added two more goals late on to run out 5-0 winners. In between Rovers had a claim for a goal dismissed and we also saw an excellent penalty saved from the home keeper Thomas Quirke after a very dubious award.
