Hurlers have big win

Following on from last week’s draw we knew that we would need a win and we got that with a big win over Ballyclough last Sunday afternoon. From the very first whistle we were on top, and the game was over as a contest by half-time when we led on a score of 2-19 to 0-6.

Throughout the game all the starting forwards added to the tally. Some of the younger players are starting to grow in confidence and this can only help when tougher tests come calling. The positive impact off the bench of some players and the return from injury of another few players will make the selection decisions much harder down the road. While the squad does appear to have gotten stronger, we did still hit another 15 wides (same as week before), and some shot selection decisions will need to be looked at. It’s not too often we score 4-31 and this should help with scoring difference if that comes into play later in the group to see who comes on top. A very fine performance indeed.

Team: Pa O’Connor, Cathal O’Keeffe, Gerry O’Connor, Eoin Buckley, James Roche, Sean Linehan, Kevin Kiely, Darragh O’Reilly, Seamus Roche, Colm Crowley, Diarmuid Linehan, Dan Roche, Dylan Collins, Barry Johnson, and Denis Kiely. Subs: Eoin Twomey for Colm, Emmet O’Riordan for James, Fergal O’Connell for Diarmuid, and Fionn Hess for Dan.

Next Sunday, September 26th we play our final round robin football fixture against Buttevant as we head to Glanworth for a 3pm throw in. With both teams each having won their 2 games to date, the winner of this match will progress to the semi-final.
