2021 OPEN A GREAT SUCCESS

The Fermoy Pitch and Putt Open got off to a great start last Thursday with a very enjoyable scotch fourball competition. We were very lucky over the four days with the weather and had a great turnout from members and players from clubs all over the country.

Our Scratch Cup saw over 150 players from far and wide on Saturday which was great to see. With some very high scoring for our Scratch Cup, we were delighted to have club members in the winning circle which included Daithi Sexton who secured the senior grade with a super 19 under par and Eleanor Walsh winning the 0-10 ladies grade with a great score of 10 under par.

Our lady captain Theresa O’Keeffe also secured a win in the 11-18 grade with Ollie Dolan and Derek Baker taking 2nd and 3rd respectively in the junior grade of the 2021 Scratch Cup. We closed out the four days of the Open with a very enjoyable 3 ball scramble on Sunday.

Now that the Open has finished the club would sincerely like to thank everyone involved in the preparation for the Open. The behind-the-scenes organisation by our committee, course workers and volunteers for these events is immense. Thank you to all those who helped in many ways to make this another successful Open for Fermoy Pitch and Putt Club.

Thank you to all who supported over the four days from near and far and congratulations to all the prize-winners. After a hectic 4 days, we look forward to the 2022 Open week once the tiredness from this one wears off!

Can you spare 45 minutes on a Saturday or Sunday morning? The greens need to be swished on weekend mornings and we need to add to the volunteers list to spread the load. Thank you to those who already volunteer and we would really appreciate added help.
