U8 Go Games in Fermoy and Castlelyons

Our U8s were back in Go Games action over the last 2 weekends. On Saturday, September 11 they brought 2 teams to Fermoy for a hurling blitz. Teams from Fermoy, Araglin, Castlelyons and Ballyhooly were also in attendance for what was a great morning’s hurling.

Our lads were competitive in their games and continue to show improvement week on week. Last weekend they reverted to the big ball as they made the trip to Castlelyons for a football blitz on Saturday morning. Kilworth again had 2 teams in attendance and came away with a share of the spoils as they won 3 and lost 3 of their 6 games. Thanks to both Fermoy and Castlelyons for hosting these blitz’s.

U7s

The U7s made the trip to east Cork early last Saturday week for a combined morning of football and hurling against Glenville and Watergrasshill.

Each player had three games in each code with some superb skills on show. Thanks very much to Tony Sheehan and the Glenville/Watergrasshill mentors for organising the morning and also for their generosity with the kids after the games.

The Kilworth players in action were Noah Dunne, Fia Crumlish, Thomas O Sullivan, Cillian McLoughlin, Charlie O’Donoghue, Shane Sweetnam, Ayda Cahill, Bobby Hegarty, James Hegarty, Luke McCrea, Tom Aherne, Luke Kenneally, Micheál O’Brien, Sophie Cohen, Dylan Kenny, Ethan O’Donoghue, Sarah Beecher, Liam Bonner, Ben Buckley and James O’Donoghue.

Last Saturday we took 2 teams to Ballynoe for a mornings hurling against St Catherines. After a slow start we got up to the pace of the games and in the end had a great work out against a well organised local side. It’s back to football this weekend as we welcome Mitchelstown to Kilworth on Saturday morning.

CONGRATULATIONS

Congratulations to the Kilara Óg U15 hurlers and management who had a superb 1 point victory against Mallow in the Premier 2 county final last weekend.

This was a fantastic game of hurling played to a very high standard throughout between two very evenly matched teams. It was great to see so many youngsters in the village on Sunday evening for the parade and hopefully they’ll get their chance to do likewise down the road.

GOLF CLASSIC

Sincere thanks to everyone who played in, sponsored or bought a raffle ticket for our recent annual golf classic. The event proved to be an excellent success once more and great credit is due to Ned O’Brien and his team who have really brought this event forward over the last few years.

DEVELOPMENT MEETING

A development meeting in relation to Kilworth Juvenile GAA Club will be held in the school hall tomorrow Friday, September 24 at 7.30pm. All full members (over 18 years of age) are encouraged to attend.
