Quarter-final disappointment

Our intermediate ladies’ team narrowly lost out in their All-Ireland quarter final to Athy last Thursday at Limerick Golf Club. At this stage of the competition you would be expecting a high standard of golf and this tie did not disappoint. From the outset you could see that there were going to be some very tight and competitive games.

The outstanding performance of the day came from Aoibheann Daly, who stormed to a massive lead before closing her game out early with a huge 8 and 7 win. The middle order proved to be much closer, with the lead changing hands throughout the day. Eventually though it was Athy that came away with the spoils with Eleanor Coughlan losing on 16, Clare Hamilton losing on 17 and Helen O’Keeffe losing on 16.

The back game saw Anna Cotter record a 5 and 4 win to leave a final score of 3-2 to Athy. Massive congratulations to the team and management on getting to this stage of the competition and thanks for all the great days out over the summer.

MIXED FOURSOMES

Next week will see our second All-Ireland adventure of the year take place. This time the venue is slightly further afield as our mixed team will head to Strandhill to take on Baltinglass in their quarter final tie.

Tee times for the match begin at 10.15am on Thursday morning. Best of luck to the panel and management and hopefully we will see some supporters make the long journey to cheer on the team.
