WINNING START FOR UNITED

Our U12 team got off to a winning start on Saturday last and this coming week our U14s, U13s and U15s are in action. Let’s hope they get off to a winning start.

We have some U17 players who are now joined up with Ballyduff Rovers and they were in action on Saturday last and kicked off with a win. So a good start for these boys as well.

PRIM-ED U12 LEAGUE Brideview Utd 7 Cappoquin/Railway 0

The scoreline here does not do justice to our neighbours from Cappoquin. Utd led 2-0 at the break thanks to goals from Mangan and Barra. The visitors came more into the game early in the second half, with our keeper Dee bringing off two good saves. It was only in the final 20 minutes that Utd grabbed five goals thanks to Mangan and Barra again, Hegarty, Power and Murphy all scoring to clinch the three points for United.

Utd all played: Jack Dee, Paul Hegarty, James McDonnell, Sophie McCarthy, AJ Goulding, Oscar Cunningham, Barra Alian, Josh Mangan, David Murphy, Adam Feeney, Harry Power. Well done to all.

U17 LEAGUE Kilworth Celtic 0 Ballyduff Rovers 3

We have seven players playing with Ballyduff Rovers in the U17 league. They had a good win on Saturday. Josh Good grabbed one of the three goals. A good start for the boys.

SYMPATHY

The club extends its deepest sympathy to the McCarthy family, New Street on the sad passing of Breda Cleary (nee Dee), Shandon Street, Dungarvan. May she rest in peace.

Sad news on the passing of Jimmy Greaves, a terrific goalscorer with many clubs in England. May he rest in peace.

UP THE BLUES

Yes, the Blues are through to the cup semi-final. Not known who we face as I write these notes, but the main thing is the Blues are in the draw. They face Drogheda this Friday night in a game they must win.

U7S IN ACTION Our U17 team played a friendly game on Saturday last.

The full squad was: Kristof, Fionn Tobin, Callum Geary, Elliot Goulding, Nathan Twohig, Leighton Guildea, Adam Boland, Liam O’Brien, Darragh Feeney, Joe Goulding and Christian Platt. Scorers here were Leighton Guildea (hat-trick), Christian Pratt (2) and Adam Boland.

Well done everyone.
