DUMPING AT KILCRUMPER CONDEMNED

An incident of dumping occurred last week at the Kilcrumper New Cemetery.

It is understood that a quantity of household and domestic rubbish was dumped inside the gate of the cemetery.

Former Mayor of Fermoy, John Murphy, condemned the incident, describing it as ‘appalling’.

“I think it’s appalling. It’s very disrespectful, people are buried there and families go there to visit their loved ones. Kilcrumper cemetery is very well kept by a caretaker and volunteers who work there on Saturdays,” Mr Murphy said.

TheAvondhu sent an enquiry to Cork County Council regarding the incident.

“Cork County Council can confirm that there was an incident of dumping recently at Kilcrumper New Cemetery. The Council subsequently attended the incident and removed the waste,” a spokesperson said.
