A heartfelt thank you to all who donated to Cork Penny Dinners

A heartfelt thank you to all who donated to Cork Penny Dinners at the collection points arranged by John Ryan and Emer Buckley this Christmas.

Although Covid restrictions limited what could be donated, the generosity of people was unprecedented.

Catriona and her many volunteers looked after thousands of individuals and families again this Christmas and they were delighted with the contributions from our area.

This year as well as car loads of groceries, toiletries, etc., we proudly handed Catriona €815. The majority of this sum was donated by the patrons of Doneraile Golf Club to whom we want to extend a huge thank you and especially to Denny Cole for all the work he did to help us.

Our grateful thanks also goes to Eoin Bracken, Principal of Castletownroche National School who collected boxes and boxes of supplies from the pupils and their families.

Finally our thanks as always go to the shops that allow us to set up our collection points: Amber Ballyhooly, Downey’s Spar Castletownroche, Riordan’s SuperValu, Fermoy and Roche’s Spar, Mitchelstown, without this cooperation what we achieve would not be possible.

Cork Penny Dinners has never been busier so our support is needed more than ever.

A new Wellness Centre was recently opened by the charity that will provide medical and dental care for those who can’t access these services.

Also, as well as providing hot meals every day at their Little Hanover Street base, Cork Penny Dinners now deliver hampers to over 1,000 families across Cork county each week.

Each hamper contains fresh food and provisions to last a fortnight and are delivered to those who may be struggling or alone.

Given all the work that Cork Penny Dinners do for so many people it is important that we provide all the support we can.

Thank you to all that helped John and Emer to help provide that support this Christmas.
