Corrin Mart report

We got into full swing this week at Corrin Mart, with our first full business week of the year. A very good size sale, with a very large entry of dry cows and a fine entry of cattle for the time of year.

Trade was electric, with a super demand right across the board. Increased demand and increased prices for all weights and breeds.

COWS

Very strong trade for dry cows.

Store cows: 400kgs to 550kgs making from €1.20 per kilo to €1.78 per kilo.

Heavier cows: 550kgs+ making from €1.50 per kilo up to €2.05 per kilo.

Friesians 625kg €1,250; Friesians 705kg €1,390; Hereford 595kg €1,100.

BULLOCKS

Extremely strong trade for all bullocks again this week.

Light stores: under 350kgs made from €1.60 per kilo for plain Friesians up to €2.65 for continental bullocks. With AA/Hereford types making from €2.05 per kilo up to €2.55 per kilo.

Medium stores: 350kgs to 500kgs starting at €1.70 for Friesians up to €2.51 per kilo for Continentals. AA/Hereford bullocks made from €2.06 up to €2.50 per kilo.

Fwd. stores: 500kgs to 600kgs- The plainer Friesians started at €1.85 per kilo up to €2.49 per kilo.

Heavy bullocks: 600kgs+. Good demand for heavy bullocks making from €1.96 up to €2.48 per kilo.

AA 490kgs €1,220; Charolais 344kgs €900; AA 345kgs €880; LIM 600kgs €1,500.

HEIFERS

Great demand for all heifers this week.

Store heifers: under 400kgs made from €2.02 up to €2.46 per kilo. AA/ Hereford averaged at €2.15 per kilo.

Butchers heifers: 400kgs+. These type heifers made from €2.08 up to €2.43 per kilo, with AA/Hereford averaging at €2.17 per kilo.

AA 265 kgs €650; Limousin 420kgs €1,020; AA 500kgs €1,160; Hereford 545kgs €1,200.
