Weekend washout

Perhaps it may be a blessing in disguise that the weekend was a washout in terms of fixtures as a number of clubs are still dealing with the effect of Covid cases and close contacts. Hopefully this week we can get back to normality with another round of back fixtures scheduled. Clubs are reminded that if your pitch is unplayable, the game reverts to the opposition venue. If both pitches are unplayable, then the Ardmore pitch can be availed of if needed to get the games played.

In most cases the fixtures secretary has done a great job to put the remaining games into rounds, so clubs also need to keep a watch out to see where back games could be played. For instance if a game is off because Covid affects one club then the opposition should try to play an opponent they have still to play.

Also one or two back fixtures are scheduled for Sunday but this is for these clubs to catch up as some clubs have no fixtures because of these back games. The League Committee has decided that some U12 fixtures will also go ahead at St Declan’s Community Park astro pitch in Ardmore with both travelling clubs sharing the rental cost so that the clubs can be certain that their games will go ahead.

RESULTS PHONE IN NUMBER 083-0890833

All managers are asked to have the results phone number so that they can text in half-time and full-time scores along with their teams’ scorers and a brief report if they wish. Both sides must phone in with the information, but it is the home side who is responsible for the result. Again, please text information to this phone number 083-0890833.

U11, U10, U9, U8 and Academy fixtures are up on league website and clubs can arrange times that suit for these games between team managers. Please ensure fair play and even game time for all the boys and girls taking part. It is about learning, having fun and enjoyment with your friends.

GOALKEEPING COACHING

This program was started just before Christmas at the Ballybridge venue. It will resume in the next week or two but if anyone else want to join they can still do so by contacting Liam Fraser on 087-4661438 and he will have registration details etc for you.

INTER LEAGUE TRAINING

Training continues on Sunday’s for these teams but if a league game is scheduled it will take precedence with players from the competing clubs released to play with their clubs.

This week we wish the best of luck to Mogeely in the U14 national cup competition where they take on College Corinthians A with the winner progressing to the open draw stage of the competition.
