Happy new year to all

A Happy New Year to all our members and fingers crossed that there is light at the end of the tunnel and that Covid is beginning to burn itself. It has been a very difficult two years for everyone but also remarkable in the resilience that has been shown by individuals and organisations.

We are very proud of the way in which the Bridge Club has managed to sustain itself and use all resources available to keep going. In view of the rise in cases we have reverted to online bridge once again and you can play on Sunday (in conjunction with Mitchelstown), Monday and Thursday at 7.30pm.

It was with great sadness that we heard of the recent passing of Ann Barry. Ann was a highly esteemed member of the Club, her uncle Dr. T. P. Magnier was a founding member of the Club and was President from 1934 until 1940 and in his honour a trophy is played for every year in the Club. Her sister Ita continues to play in the Club as does her nephew Liam. A very proud Bridge dynasty. Our sincere condolences to her family and friends. May she rest in peace.
