Public toilets to reopen ahead of weekend regatta

KATIE GLAVIN

The men’s public toilets located on Ashe Quay in Fermoy will be reopened in advance of the Fermoy Rowing Club Regatta this weekend, Cork County Council has confirmed.

Recently, the toilets were closed to the public following ‘substantial damage’ due to vandalism. While the ladies’ toilets and the disabled toilets were reopened, the mens’ toilets remained closed pending electrical repairs.

This week, Cork County Council confirmed that the act of vandalism involved hand dryers being removed from the wall.

“Cork County Council can confirm that the men’s public toilets are currently closed as a result of vandalism, where the hand dryers were removed from the wall and electrical wires exposed.

“New hand-dryers have been ordered and it is envisaged that the men’s toilets will be re-opened in advance of the regatta this weekend,” a Cork County Council spokesperson said.
