Town development works progressing in Fermoy

Upgrades to Fermoy Town Park are to be progressed in July under the Town Development Fund and works will include the addition of permanent up-lighters to trees in the park and the replacement of outdoor gym equipment.

News that the project is to progress in July follows a recent meeting of the Fermoy Municipal District.

Local councillor Noel McCarthy welcomed news of the project’s progression, stating that it is ‘very exciting’ and asked whether the works would be complete for Christmas.

Municipal District Officer, Pauline Moriarity responded to the query stating that it is the council’s intention to have the upgrades in place for then.

“It is certainly our intention and will be our priority to do that,” Ms Moriarty said.

OTHER WORKS

Several other projects are also to be progressed across Fermoy under the 2022 Town Development Fund including the installation of a speed radar sign on Cork Road, for which a contract has been tendered.

The Fermoy Town clock on Pearse Square is also to be lit up with a spotlight, which Ms Moriarty stated would also be progressed in July.

A historic map of Fermoy is also being developed under the fund and a draft map is now complete and under review by Cork County Council.
