Fermoy Musical Society launches new logo

It’s all go for the committee of Fermoy Musical Society (FMS) these days. As well as preparing for our upcoming show ‘All Shook Up’ in November, we are busy getting organised for our centenary celebrations in 2024.

One of our recent projects is redesigning our society logo. Our existing logo is a lovely representation of Fermoy bridge with the caption ‘Singing since 1924’. This image was designed by Katherine Keane a few years ago and has been on all our promotional material since

As we approach our centenary, we felt a new image for a new era was called for. We wanted an image that symbolised the continuity of the traditions of FMS while embracing the inevitable changes which gives FMS its energy and vigour. Committee members Katherine Keane and Orla Shinnick, in collaboration with Kieran Dwane of Fermoy Print & Design, have produced a vibrant modern image to carry us into our next hundred years. Central to the logo is a representation of the bridge wh ich links both sides of our town and is central to its identity. It also symbolises the link between the past and present generations of audiences, performers and committee members of FMS or ‘The Choral’ as it was affectionately known.

The spotlights in the image symbolise the light, warmth and energy of a live musical performance. The river flowing under the bridge is represented as a musical stave. It calls to mind our beautiful Blackwater, but also the river of music which has flowed from our home in the Palace Theatre for almost one hundred years.

We are very excited to launch our new logo. You will be seeing a lot of it in the next few months as we gear up for ‘All Shook Up’ in November. Watch this space!
