Summer sunshine for Coolagown 10K event

Coolagown was bathed in warm sunshine on Thursday last for its first 10k Road Race and Walk (replacing the 5k) - a joint fundraiser in aid of Coolagown Development Group and Kilmagner NS.

With over 170 runners, the event was a spectacular success very well organised by volunteers in Coolagown and ‘masterminded’ by the ever-generous members of St Nicholas AC Castlelyons. The main sponsors for the event were

McDonnell Bros and Synergy Credit Union.

The new 10k route was marshalled by over 30 volunteers and with chipped timing, the race went smoothly from start to finish.

Superb catering was provided by the parents’ association of Kilmagner NS and was very much appreciated by both runners and walkers alike.

The many walkers on The Long Road enjoyed a wonderful evening’s walk in the warm sunshine with a stop at the very welcome ice cream stand, generously provided by Evelyn Aoife and Eddie Sheehan.
