Challenging match against Clan na Gael

On Sunday, the West Cork side of Clan na Gael made the long journey to play the ladies at home in division 6 of the county league.

After a morning of rain, the afternoon cleared up and it suited Kilworth as they got off to the better start dominating possession and early points from Ellen in midfield settled the girls. Further points from Emma H and Emma Lane with a goal and a point had Kilworth in contention at half time despite conceding 2 late goals to the opposition before the break.

A strong wind in the second half didn’t help as with it Clan na Gael upped the tempo and began picking off scores as our best efforts weren’t rewarded and we would run out losers on the day 5-12 to 1-5.

Up next is against Ballinhassig LGFA on Thursday evening, June 30th away.

Team: Emma Clancy, Sinead Morrin, Nicola young (c), Eva Donnellan, Grainne Keenan, Catriona O’Sullivan, Nadine Wheeler, Ellen Murphy (0-2), Sinead O’Brien, Karen Hayes, Emma Harrington (0-2), Leah Donnellan, Aisling McCormack, Emma Lane (1-1), Niamh O’Sullivan, Amy McLaughlin, Orlaith Kenny, Stacey Whelan, Aoife Lane, Aoife Kenny, Eimear Gallagher.

As the club continues to grow, we are looking towards getting a second set of jerseys, we have organised in conjunction with the Butchers Bar for a night out on Saturday, 2nd July. Music on the night by Damien Coughlan and spot prizes on the night and all support is greatly appreciated.
