Heartbreak for our U12 ladies footballers

Last Saturday, the U12s played the North Cork Group 2 final against St Marys from Liscarroll/ Dromina. As in every match this year, the girls put in a great performance.

St Marys came out on top in a tight match, with just a single score separating the sides at the final whistle. Final score: St Marys 1-4 to Mitchelstown 0-4.

Thank you to Horgan’s Delicatessen who presented the girls with a set of jerseys especially for the occasion.

U14 LADIES FOOTBALL

The U14 footballers have been in good form, clinching the North Cork U14C League title in the past few weeks. On Monday, they hosted Mallow B in their North Cork semi-final. On the night, the girls put on another impressive display to seal a deserved win. The final will be played in the coming days, check online for date and venue.

MINOR CAMOGIE

The St Fanahan’s minors travelled to Bishopstown for the camogie league semi-final last Thursday. Bishopstown took control of the early stages of the first half scoring 4 points.

A late rally by the St Fanahans girls, including a goal by Ciara R, levelled the scores for half time. Despite our girls best efforts, Bishopstown proved too strong in the second half, running out winners by 2-8 to 1-5.

U12 CAMOGIE

Our U12s made the long trip on Sunday to play Enniskeane in the latest round of the U12 County League. Great credit to the parents for making the trip, especially after all these girls played a football final the night before.

Once the legs were stretched and warmed up, the girls got stuck in straight away. It was an evenly contested game with both sides getting on the scoreboard early.

Some of the girls were carrying small niggles before the game so some positional changes were made, but everyone gave 100% wherever they played. The St Fanahan’s girls just edged it in the end, getting some crucial scores late on.

Next match for the U12s is on Thursday, 30 June, when we host Blarney in Ballygiblin.

CORK COMMUNITY GAMES LONG PUCK

Congratulations to St Fanahans members Caoimhe and Niamh, who finished first &andsecond in the Cork Community Games Long Puck competition in Ballincollig last Sunday.

They will now represent Cork in the All-Ireland finals, which are to be held in Carlow in August.
