Competition experience for our juniors at Tipperary

Last Sunday, a number of our juniors travelled to the Tipperary Munster Clay Junior Open Competition. It was the first time for some of the boys and girls to take part in a competition. We had players in the U10, U9 and U8 categories.

It was a very enjoyable and successful day, with the entire Mitchelstown contingent returning home with a medal! Well done to all involved, hopefully this is the first step towards entering future competitions. We thank our junior officers Aidan McNamara and Catherine Rea for all their time given towards the juniors in the club, with the assistance of club volunteers, for whom we are grateful. Keep up the great work everyone!

ADVANCED JUNIOR HITTING PRACTICE

The advanced junior hitting practice for junior members continues this Friday from 5-6pm.

CLUB NIGHT

Last Friday’s club night was cancelled due to the weather. Hopefully, conditions will be better for this coming Friday night, July 1st at 7.30pm. It’s a sociable, casual, fun night of tennis, intended for members to meet other members and mix up to play doubles. It is open to all members. Anyone interested is encouraged to come along.

SUNDAY JUNIOR MATCHPLAY

Our junior matchplay continues next Sunday, 3rd July. The under 7s will be from 9.30-10.30, ages 8-12 will be 10.30-11.30. Numbers are limited, so registration is required at yourcourts.com.

JUNIOR TENNIS SUMMER CAMP

Our Tennis Summer Camp will take place on August 2nd-5th. The coach will be CJ Kelly (Tennis Ireland level 2 coach). The times are as follows: 10am to 12pm – Ages 5-8; 12.15pm to 2.15pm – ages 9-11; 3pm to 5pm – age 12 years up.
