Kilshanna students shine at All-Ireland’s

In Ireland, when you hear of Al-Irelands many people automatically think of football or hurling, but local young stars from Kilshanna Studio, Mitchelstown recently competed in the All-Ireland Teachers Association Speech & Drama

Finals.

The very best performers gathered in the Talbot Hotel, Stillorgan, Dublin for the finals having qualified through the previous rounds all over Ireland.

DEDICATION PAYS OFF

“Our young performers produced award winning performances in every competition they were finalists for and blew all our expectations away with their success,” Pearl Robinson told TheAvondhu this week.

“From our youngest competitor (6 years of age) to the oldest (18), their hard work was awarded with medals, highly commended and commended certificates in their class for their dedication and practice.

To watch these young talented performers develop confidence in their abilities while creating new skills and knowledge of their craft is a privilege. The praise they received from adjudicators, fellow competitors, organisers and the audience for their politeness, helpfulness and kindness to everyone was just as important as their performance awards”.

‘SO REWARDING’

New lifelong friendships were established during the finals and Ms Robinson described it as “a huge achievement for our locality in the arts, musical theatre and drama sphere”.

“To watch their excitement in performing alone is a so rewarding for us all. The Kilshanna students performed with finalists from throughout Ireland and were amongst the very top in each category.

“Thank you to the teachers who work with these students each week going over and beyond with every one of them. Thank you to our costume department who never fail to provide the final finesse for each scene. And thank you to all who sent good wishes, travelled and supported each performer, it meant so much to them and us,” she stated.
