Informative end of month meeting

Written by Seoirse and Patricia Neilan.

Fermoy Toastmasters held its final meeting of the month on Tuesday, March 21st at the Fermoy Youth Centre. The Toastmaster for the evening was Vice President Mary Whelan.

There were two wonderful speeches on the night from Robert Hegarty and Gerry Hennessy. Robert’s speech titled “The horn of Africa” described the shocking UN statistic where a child dies every 36 seconds due to famine, drought and a lack of available clean water. Robert’s speech was evaluated by Seoirse Neilan.

The second speech by Gerry Hennessey titled “It all happens in the shed”, gave us an idea of the benefits of joining a men’s shed. Gerry’s speech was evaluated by Frank O’Driscoll.

The role of topics master was chaired by treasurer Johannah Hegarty. We congratulate Johannan and our Toastmasters president Michael Sheehan for representing the club in the area evaluation final and for Johannah coming in third place.

The next meeting of Toastmasters will be held on Tuesday evening, April 4th at 8.15 at the Fermoy Youth Centre. All new members are welcome to come along and participate in a friendly and jovial atmosphere.
