Cup action

It’s cup action this weekend for both our senior and junior teams. Park seniors welcome Carrigtwohill Utd to Brigown Pk on Friday night at 8pm in the Pop Keller Cup. Then on Saturday at 5pm Park juniors welcome Innishvilla in the John Hayes Cup. All support would be appreciated.

DEPLETED Ballinhassig 3 Park Utd Juniors 0

A somewhat depleted junior squad made the long trip to Ballinhassig on Sunday morning last and found the going tough. Park went into this game on the back of a great win the previous week but were missing some key personal on Sunday last and the team below them in the league proved stronger and claimed all 3 points. Park are still in a good position though and need only one more win from their remaining 4 games to guarantee their div 2 status for next season.

LATE LATE SHOW Park Utd U17 boys 4 Avondale 4

An unbelievable comeback from the visitors in this entertaining U17 league fixture in Brigown Park on Sunday morning last. Trailing 4-1 with 10 minutes to go, Avondale staged a miraculous comeback with 3 late goals, and shared the points with Park.

The visitors went 1 nil up but Park equalised through Clem Motherway. It remained 1 all at the break. The majority of the 2nd half was dominated by Park and goals from Jake Thornton, Matt Gould and Jack Piggott had Park cruising at 4-1 with 10 to go. Somehow Park pressed the self-destruct button and the visitors scored 3 late goals to level matters, a result that was disappointing for Park in the end.

TWO NICE Park Utd Senior ladies 4 Leeside 1

At Brigown Pk on Sunday last our senior ladies continued their preparations for the upcoming season with another well-deserved victory over Leeside in a friendly.

This group of girls under the management of Colm and Roisin O’Grady have now clocked up two nice wins thus far in their preparations in advance of the season starting in mid-April. There were notable performances throughout with Park’s goals coming from Abigail King, Mairead Coughlan and 2 from Stacey Dawson.
