Cycling action in Carlow

This Sunday the cycling action will be in Carlow, where the Des Hanlon Memorial will be the 2nd round of the National League Series.

The League’s 1st round was last Sunday in Blarney with the Donal Crowley Memorial Races. Here Fermoy cyclist, Liam O’Brien, a junior rider, was competing against the leading Irish senior cyclists over 120 kilometres. Liam was to the forefront throughout and was in the leading group coming towards the finish.

However 2 riders broke away to take 1st and 2nd positions, with Liam in the chasing group, taking 5th place at the finish. This was an excellent result for Liam, riding against the older and more experienced cyclists and he will be hoping to do even better this Sunday against the leading senior riders.

Some of Fermoy Cycling Club’s younger cyclists travelled to Wicklow for the Coillte Blitz Mountain Bike Series races, where Mia Geary took 3rd place in the girls U12 race, to continue her good form this season.
