Aoife's Wicklow Way to 4th

Our club lady Aoife Courtney took on the Wicklow Way last Saturday morning, competing in the Maurice Mullins 50k Trail Race.

Starting across from the pier gates Aoife headed along the Wicklow way, until she was diverted off the Wicklow way to Ballinastoe where she continued a little way up until she was turned by a Marshall to head back the way she came until she met another marshal who directed her back onto the Wicklow Way. Following the Boardwalks then up over Djouce and back down again to re-join the Wicklow Way and then headed for Crone Woods when she hit Curtlestown and the Glencullen river.

A final turn then sent her back along the same route again via Djouce to the finish line. Aoife finished 4th lady.

COUNTY SENIOR ROAD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Templemore AC played host to the County Senior Road Championships last Sunday afternoon. On the cards was a 5k loop for the ladies and a double loop making 10k for the men around the town of Templemore. We had one lady toe the line for the ladies 5k - Mary Louise Ryan, who finished 9th overall. We had three men take on the 10k - Willie O'Donoghue, Damien Holian and Dariusz Gazdowicz. Unfortunately, with no team we were unable to score but with all of our three boys in the O50 plus category finishing 16th for Willie, 23rd for Damien and 30th for Dariusz overall against the babies of the county it was a great accomplishment for the boys and the club.

THE MALLOW 10

The Mallow 10 Mile Road Race held last Sunday in Mallow, Co Cork and is one of the largest 10-mile races in Munster. Starting in the grounds of the beautiful Mallow Castle, the course is fast but has a few small hills and drags along the way. It is hosted by the Cork AC club Mallow AC and had a 12.30pm start time. Starting this one was Francis Morrison and he crossed the finish line in 1 hour 10 minutes later.
