Fermoy Fire Brigade, backed up by their Mitchelstown colleagues, attended the scene of a house fire in Fermoy on Tuesday night.

It is understood that it was a fire in the hot press at a residence in St Mary’s Crescent in the town. While the house and the hot press sustained very little fire damage, it is understood that there was substantial smoke damage within the property. Thankfully, no injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

On Monday evening, September 20, members of the Fermoy Fire Brigade attended the scene of a serious road traffic collision between a car and a van at Leary’s Cross near Castlelyons.

The driver and the passenger of the car were taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment, according to a Garda spokesperson. Mitchelstown Fire Brigade, the Ambulance service and An Garda Síochana were also in attendance.

“Two cars collided at O’Leary’s Cross. The driver and passenger of one car were taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment of their injuries. Investigations are ongoing,” a Garda spokesperson confirmed.
