Well deserved win

FÉ14 C3 FOOTBALL Carrigtwohill 3-02 Kilworth Araglin Óg 4-08

Kilworth Araglin Óg started off well in this away match on Saturday afternoon last, knocking over some early scores on a fairly heavy pitch. There were some goal opportunities which we didn’t take unfortunately, and this allowed Carrigtwohill back into the game in the final 10 minutes of the first half.

Up by two points at half-time and with a good hill against us in the second half, we eventually found our rhythm and ran the ball between the lines up the field to stretch our lead. Although Carrigtwohill battled well throughout, our lads were in command for the majority of the game and produced some lovely football to come away with a well-deserved win.

Team: Shane Leddy, Sean Kelleher, Ciaran Crowley, Peter Hynes, Darragh Lynch, Ruairi McCallum, Justin Gowen, Jack Cotter, Harry O’Brien, Darragh Cooney, Bailey Browne, Peter Sarsfield, James Kenneally, Luke Browne, Jack Fitzgerald. Subs (all used): Aaron Buckley, Jack Condon.

FÉ8S BACK IN PÁIRC UÍ CHAOIMH

Following on from the success of the footballers 2 weeks ago, it was the turn of our Fé8 hurlers to head to Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Saturday morning last to take part in the Rebel Óg-organised Hurling Monster Blitz. We had sixteen players in total making up two teams of five and one of six-a-side on the morning with great effort and skills on show from all the boys.

The players to take part last Saturday were as follows: Culann McCarthy, Paidi O’Brien, Jack McNamara, Cillian Prendiville, Charlie O’Donoghue, Charlie Clifford, Charlie Aherne, Micheál O’Brien, Kyle Condon, Dan McGrath, Oisín Ryan, Oisín O’Reilly, Oisín Looney, Eoin Tobin, Aodhán Dingivan, Brendan Hurley.

FÉ18S, 14S AND GO GAMES FALL FOUL OF THE WEATHER

Unfortunately, we lost another two games to the weather last weekend as the Fé18 footballers game with Mayfield (Sunday), the Fé14 P2 football game with St. Michaels (Friday) along with the Fe9, 10 and 11 Go Games matches (Saturday) all had to be postponed due to unplayable pitches. The fixtures are beginning to back up, for the Fé14s and 18s in particular, and with both competitions on a deadline due to exams and the start of Fé15 and Fé17 leagues, mentors have their work cut out to find space in which to play all games.

The Fé18 hurlers were to be in action last night (Wednesday) against Millstreet in the 2nd round of the Div1 North hurling league whilst the Fé14 P2 hurlers are due to host Glen Rovers in Kilworth tonight (Thursday) at 8pm. Hopefully the weather will be kind to us and both games will proceed.

On Saturday the Fé9 hurlers (v Bride Rovers), the Fé10 hurlers (v Fermoy) and the Fé11 hurlers (v Lisgoold) will make another attempt to play their first games of the year. On Sunday the Fé16 hurlers are due to commence their hurling league v Ballycastle Gaels in Araglen, whilst the Fé14 C3 hurlers are due to play Kiltha Óg in Castlemartyr.

Onto next week then and Monday sees the Fé14 P2 hurlers in action again as they welcome Youghal to Araglen whilst on Wednesday the Fé14 P2 footballers head to Trabeg to take on the might of Nemo Rangers. The Fé18 footballers are also due to be in action on Wednesday against Bride Rovers in Kilworth. Finally, the Fé12 footballers are also due to commence their football league over the weekend against Ballycastle Gaels (date and time to be confirmed).

With the forecast remaining changeable at best for the week, please liaise with your mentors in relation to all fixtures.

VOLUNTEERS OUT IN FORCE

The recent spell of poor weather hasn’t deterred Pa Browne and his team as they continue to make significant improvements at the clubs grounds. On Saturday last a crew of 17 hardy souls were on hand at 7:30am as they poured a new path adjacent to the recently installed handrail to the full length of the second pitch.

The path will offer more comfort to spectators watching games in either pitch whilst the fence will allow championship games to be played in the second pitch. The opportunity was also taken to complete perimeter kerbing and the flood light bases inside the recently installed blockwork. Thanks to all those who continue to help out with this and the many other roles in the club each week.
